So I'll start this blog of mine with a weekend full of media-filled goodness...
Friday--February 6th
After work on Friday I went to see the movie Coraline in 3D with a few friends. I absolutely LOVED it! This was a 3D movie that I actually thought worked well with the film. Visually, it was stunning. I remember I kept saying, "Whooooah," every few minutes just because of the beautiful shots. The story was a bit complicated, but I really loved the characters. The characters were loveable, but incredibly creepy. I would NOT take my five year old child to this movie. It creeped me out. ME...a 23 year old. Another thing that I liked about seeing this movie was the audience. I went to see the 10:45 showing at Barry Woods and I saw many people that were my age going to the film. I thought that was interesting to see. People my age going to see a childrens' themed movie.
Saturday--February 7th
I went over to a friend's house after work and played Wii. I normally don't play the Wii. I don't have one, but I want one. I think it's an amazing gaming system. It truly is interactive, and extremely fun. We played Mariokart. I absolutely LOVED Mariokart when I was a kid. I played Mariokart on the SUPER Nintendo. I know, that makes me feel extremely old. On the Wii, the controller is actually a wheel. You turn it to the left to drive left; you turn it to the right to drive right. It's insane, I know.
After work, yes, I know, I work all weekend usually. BUT, after work I watched The Grammys. I actually watched all of it. I normally don't...I really liked this year's Grammys. It was really a great year full of weird, but manageable pairings of artists. One thing that bugged me though was the fact that there were weird presenters there. Simon Baker from The Mentalist? Kate Beckinsale? What? Why? I found an excuse for Simon Baker...His show is on CBS? I don't know. Anywho. Here are my favorite moments of the night:
--Jonas Brothers playing with Stevie Wonder (At first I was like whaaaat? But it worked for me)
--Paul McCartney (sorry, I'm not putting in the "sir") and Dave Grohl playing "I Saw Her Standing There."
--M.I.A.'s polka-dot outfit
--One of Coldplay's band members (sorry I don't remember your name) saying that they stole The Beatles' idea of their band jackets from Sgt. Pepper's right in front of Paul McCartney. Classic.
--Radiohead performing "15 Step" with a marching band. Brilliant.
--John Mayer winning a few Grammys (I still love that man)

I also kept switching the channels between The Grammys and the BAFTAS. As you soon will come to realize, I'm obsessed with anything British. I would be what they call an "anglophile." Yep, that's me. But besides that, I wanted to watch the BAFTAS as well. I like the way they present awards...Don't ask me why, but I do. I guess I just like most of the actors, and the categories they present. Mickey Rourke was hilarious when he won his award for best actor! That man is insane, but people still seem to enjoy him. Me, not so much. Overall I enjoyed the BAFTAS from what I saw. Slumdog Millionaire KILLED it. Yes.

Oh and another thing...What is this business about Chris Brown and Rihanna? I'm so confused. I've read multiple articles about this terrible event, but I still don't know whether or not the girl who was "assaulted" was Rihanna or not. Either way, it's horrible. And I think it's hilarious that Doublemint Gum has pulled Brown's ad. It's just like good ol' Kate Moss and the cocaine incident. BOOM! Say good-bye to your career Chris Brown..because it's gone. Or maybe not. Knowing our society it probably will come back...This is the reason why. This article just makes me want to gag.
That's all for now!
